Item Description

NIPOALOHA’s original rayon replicates the vintage Hawaiian shirt woven in Shizuoka Hamamatsu, famous for weaving workshops.
TECHNIQUE:
Dyed with a traditional technique called Kyo-Yuzen by the artisans of OKAJU, the Yu-zen workshop has been around for over 100 years.
***Kyo-Yuzen is a dyeing-technique that originated in the middle of the Edo period, towards the end of the 17th century. The dye is directly applied to the fabric. The designs often depict nature and animals of the different seasons with vivid and vibrant colors.
PRINT:
Hokusai’s watermelon painting from the end of the Edo-period, around the 1840s.

***Katsushika Hokusai, known simply as Hokusai, was a Japanese artist and ukiyo-e painter and printmaker of the Edo period. Hokusai is best known as the author of the woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, which includes the internationally iconic print, The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
Tapered pants with a slender silhouette. The wide tucks give looseness, and the soft texture provides comfiness.
